In the Secret Life hardcover, it's listed as having a 2005 release by Night Shade. An excerpt from the novella was also posted by Redsine in 2000 as issue one's featured author.

I would guess:
1.0 is Cosmos (2001)
2.0 is Prime (2002)
2.5 is Tor (2004)
I am curious as to what the "beta" version is.
