The food rations were thin to start with. The borderline riots at Kakuma refugee camp a few weeks ago because rations were cut just show it. Some refugees have money and can buy food. Many many have NOTHING.

I know the plural of anecdote isn’t data, but when I moved from the US to Denmark my gut issues just sort of…went away

Conversely, as an American immigrant to Denmark: I am flat broke (working, just tough to make ends meet). Yet I know I don’t have to worry about medical bills, or food, or housing. The difference is staggering. Sure I can’t buy “stuff” for fun, but I’m happy!

I feel validated. I’ve been saying this for weeks to a variety of eye-rolls.
