In this lecture I showed that one can see gleanings of the impact of the Latin presence in the East in Syro-Armenian polemics: the Latin support for the Armenians seems to have put a lot of pressure on the Syriac Orthodox Church. 7/7

At St Nersess I gave a lecture on Syro-Armenian Miaphysite polemics in the twelfth century, which I have been investigating through the lens of the bilingual bishop John bar Andreas, a great debater, bilingual Syriac-Armenian, and involved in the translation of Armenian texts. 6/7

A lot of material remains to be published, not only as it relates to the Middle Ages, but especially for the early modern period and the more recent past, as a few publications including a forthcoming edited volume on Syro-Armenian studies will show. 3/7

At Princeton I talked about my views on Syro-Armenian history, the urgent need for an overarching approach, continuing and extending the work that was first started by Erwand Ter-Minasyan more than 100 years ago but which is now completely outdated 2/7
