This a.m. BA175 to JFK, this rather old B772 reg G-RAES. (Royal Aeronautical Society). BA175 has been our go-to JFK flight for over a decade but we've not been to NYC since '22. Interested to see how we feel on this trip which is to celebrate someone's b'day

Nice touch on Finnair flying HND to HEL over the pole. The shell-like biz seats are a nice space, thoughtfully designed & v private but 2 improvements needed - bc the seat doesn't go flat, you scooch down, a far larger pillow for better head support, & the shoulder strap is too high & rubbed my neck

This morning, JL92 Gimpo (GMP), Seoul to HND, Tokyo, a B77W. Had a marvellous first-time week in Seoul. A great city. Already planning the return. DMZ trip fascinating

This morning, CX410, a 28 yr old B773 (note, not the newer B77W) of Cathay Pacific fm HKG to Seoul (ICN). 3 hrs 40 mins. At HKG T1, depending on your gate, you may walk 20 mins fm security. The lounges are dotted about and (ime) not easy to locate. But it's a super modern & highly automated airport

Been digging through old wine and found some from the 1980s. Thought it would be for pouring down the sink. But first up this 1986 Ch Haut-Bages Liberal. It's been well kept and surprisingly it's good. Way past its best, but pretty good as good. We'll work through the others in the coming months

Informed at 3.30am our flight BA294 ORD to LHR this p.m. is cancelled but been put onto BA296 4hrs later (not seated together but just relieved to be on a flight the same day). It's B78X G-ZBLA, just over 5 yrs old. ORD is v busy. Planes everywhere. 4 parallel runways operating simultaneously

Enjoyable Sunday trip to check out Milwaukee,WI today. On western shore of Lake Michigan. 90 mins on Amtrak from Chicago Union Stn. Some fantastic buildings. when you come up to City Hall you realise how huge it is. Some photos here's 1 of 2....
After many attempts finally got a table tonight at Monteverde, in the west loop area of Chicago, modestly describing itself as an Italian restaurant serving fresh pasta. But there's a reason it's difficult to get an evening table. It's fantastic, from start to finish. Cooking of the highest order
