Remember WC Fields- if at first you don’t succeed try again - then give up. No point making a damnd fool of yourself. four times? Move on!

I don't like this being commented on by Boris Johnson who lost his job for inventing a source for a story who then complained - though otherwise of course BJ is a man of complete integrity.

The Times/Sunday Times email newsletter on the weekend started with a paragraph confidently telling us what a disaster it was for Starmer's Westminster Labour Party that he had lost the election for Caerphilly's MP to Plaid Cymru. Hello- it wasn't a Westminster election! I didn't read further.

Also they’ll complain that “they“don’t integrate but when people integrate in work & start successful families, even sometimes “mixed” they show their deeper dislike/fear of losing “cultural integrity” - another camouflage for racial “purity.” Language really is power.

You’re right there. Especially when so many old ppl - I’m 71- seem blind to the difficulties of younger people. even if they can help those in their own families they don’t see that insecurity at work and inability to get decent housing etc for so many is holding back the whole country.

I am inundated with ads for clothing, cruises etc.

I realised that pretty much straight away. No one is indispensable.

71. I dont recognise myself in any of this. Perhaps I’m untypical. I like being anonymous as some old guy in public. I avoid committees etc. Im absorbed in my interests. I remember so much tosh from old ppl in the 70s about the wonderful past. im not going to be so wretched & bitter myself.

It was either that,he said, or change my name by deed poll.

we've also had Farage on the radio on the old "they're eating swans and carp from the parks" this morning. Royal Parks have dismissed this rapidly.

Especially if Reform is the largest party which is increasingly likely & in spirit of voting system. Worth reading @willhaycardiff.bsky.social on these matters. Lab didn't think their vote in Scotland wd evaporate and it did. And Wales now is even more ignored than Scotland was then.

How about Shakespeare using drag artists, mostly children, for all the women's roles? As for Twelfth Night....

hear poor rogues
Talk of court news; and we'll talk with them too,
Who loses and who wins; who's in, who's out;

and we'll wear out,
In a wall'd prison, packs and sects of great ones,
That ebb and flow by the moon.

Every reshuffle I think of this …

as for the Conservatives jumping on this morning and saying, well in principle we could do a deal with the Taliban too. In PRINCIPLE???

Did you have a lightbulb moment? Just guessing arbitrarily. I liked quite a lot of it though!

Tbf Welsh Labour certainly haven’t helped either. Reform might end up largest party in Senedd but without a majority - it’ll be a coalition of Plaid and Labour- Labour likely to be third. Starmer insulting Savile Rob personally at PMQS a stupid thing to do in circs.

My favourite one was an ice cream van in Manchester that came round at night selling anything but ice cream playing Strangers In The Night.
May 13, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Labour will come third. Whether Reform or Plaid predominate is uncertain. There will be a coalition between Labour and Plaid - Reform won't have a majority and no-one will go into coalition with them. First Minister will be Plaid.

Labour in Wales and nationally have only themselves to blame.

If they stop using that they’ll just replace it with “dreaming spires”

From my childhood in south wales in late 50s/early 60s I remember factory’hooters’ marking changing of shifts and also used as a warning for quarry explosions just outside the city, so followed by a distant blast. Memories of air raid sirens for the grownups every day.
