An Englishman in Wales. Works in charity. Governs in school. Gooner. Runner. Dad. Do I still need to say views are my own?
I still have some of the scarves and books we had over the years. I'm not a red member anymore but I remember a bit of excitement when that membership box arrived.

NHS staff in Wales work so hard to provide the best care they can for cancer patients. And yet, we are seeing lack of progress in improving early diagnosis, long waiting times, and missed opportunities to innovate. This has to change. Patients are counting on it. #cancercantwait

Bowel screening has been a plus point recently. Then you see this stat and realise just how much there is still to do.

Given screening is the best tool to pick up the earliest (most treatable) bowel cancer, this isn't good enough.

As someone who spent their time at Cancer Research UK regularly calling for a proper cancer strategy in Wales, this passage in the BBC article is particularly galling. We're not setting ourselves up for success.

It gets worse the more you read of it.

Only a fifth of people referred through bowel screening are getting a colonoscopy within 4 weeks against target of 90%.

Screening is the best way to pick up early most treatable bowel cancers but it feels like we're setting ourselves up to fail.

It's different enough from the stage show that makes it special in its own right. I felt a couple of the songs worked better in the movie too.

Everything crossed for tomorrow, especially after last season!
