One of the ways HS2 got a reputation for being expensive is because we upgrade/build motorways in short piecemeal sections. No ever proposes to price a motorway similar to the M6/M1 in one package.

The ”upgrade” to junction 11 on the M5 is going to cost £363mn
(fuck knows where the money goes) and is going ahead

Reopening the Stonehouse station on the Birmingham / Bristol line would cost around £25mn but trying to get it funded is impossible

They all claim to be so proud of flying the flag but yet only seem to put them up under cover of darkness…
