Granted, I haven't seen most of the Oscar contenders yet, but "K-Pop Demon Hunters" is so far the best film I've seen all year. Which, if you know anything about my taste in movies, is really saying something.

I am so over the iPhone's Quasimodo camera humps. They aren't even trying to be elegant and practical anymore. That said, those cameras are amazing and really travel well. Sigh.

I always feel like I manifest a lot of get-of-my-lawn energy as I get older, but man, I can't hold a candle to this dude. And he hasn't even hit 40 yet.

The loss of public funding for pub media is expediting many come-to-Jesus meetings that should have happened years ago. I'm personally excited about what public media can become in this new era, but it's also clear many haven't progressed through all the stages of mourning yet.

I've been in LA nearly 30 years and I still forget every year that summer never actually starts here till August and fall doesn't kick in till Thanksgiving. When July is beautiful while the rest of the country bakes, we get so smug. We never learn.

Last night at the Hollywood Bowl I heard a classical piece for the first time that moved me deeply; not sure how I missed it before: Ralph Vaughan Williams's "The Lark Ascending." Incredible how so much beauty can flow from a single instrument.

Newest obsession: the YouTube subgenre of "work/study/chill with me" videos that feature hours-long music mixes while people literally film themselves working/studying/hanging together. And if you're into folk/tribal house music, it's 10x better, trust.
