Found out my longtime therapist for over a decade got mowed down and killed on a sidewalk in Santa Monica by a drunk driver a few days ago. The scourge of pedestrian deaths in LA is completely out of control.

I've long been a believer that there are myriad older, deeper cultural problems underlying our current political climate, and articles like this one definitely seem to validate that theory. Great read. www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/love-sex/...
One app, 60 men, 26 dates: my adventures in alt-right dating
There’s no question that we’re living — and looking for love — in contentious times, where extreme political ideologies have all but divided parts of the dating pool. Or have they?

I would love to travel back in time and show this article to all the parents, teachers, etc who *swore* TV would melt my brain. They had NO idea.

Granted, I haven't seen most of the Oscar contenders yet, but "K-Pop Demon Hunters" is so far the best film I've seen all year. Which, if you know anything about my taste in movies, is really saying something.

I feel his pain. At least he wasn't stuck on Pico in west LA during rush hour!
The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, experienced a frustration that many New Yorkers know all too well. He got stuck on a Manhattan street corner. It had been closed off for President Trump’s motorcade during the UN General Assembly. nyti.ms/46F5esx

You know you're officially an Angeleno when the weather drops from 90s to 80 and you bust out the sweaters and jackets.

I am so over the iPhone's Quasimodo camera humps. They aren't even trying to be elegant and practical anymore. That said, those cameras are amazing and really travel well. Sigh.

I always feel like I manifest a lot of get-of-my-lawn energy as I get older, but man, I can't hold a candle to this dude. And he hasn't even hit 40 yet.
Stephen Miller: "All these demonstrators that you've seen out here in recent days, all these elderly white hippies, they're not part of the city and never have been ... we're gonna ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old."

The loss of public funding for pub media is expediting many come-to-Jesus meetings that should have happened years ago. I'm personally excited about what public media can become in this new era, but it's also clear many haven't progressed through all the stages of mourning yet.

I've been in LA nearly 30 years and I still forget every year that summer never actually starts here till August and fall doesn't kick in till Thanksgiving. When July is beautiful while the rest of the country bakes, we get so smug. We never learn.

Last night at the Hollywood Bowl I heard a classical piece for the first time that moved me deeply; not sure how I missed it before: Ralph Vaughan Williams's "The Lark Ascending." Incredible how so much beauty can flow from a single instrument.

Newest obsession: the YouTube subgenre of "work/study/chill with me" videos that feature hours-long music mixes while people literally film themselves working/studying/hanging together. And if you're into folk/tribal house music, it's 10x better, trust.
