I once walked past Jim Bowen in Birmingham, took me more than a moment to remember who he was (was many years after Bullseye) so didn't speak to him.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't play the official rules, then complain it takes ages. Dump all the "house rules" and play it exactly the way it's intended and the game will be over in about 30 turns.

The answer to this is pretty simple, if AI companies don't function with IP laws in place and we need AI, then get rid of IP laws. Naturally the AI companies aren't actually keen on that, since everything they do is based around IP, but that's kind of tough luck on them.

When Amstrad took over Sinclair, the engineers were apparently baffled that the Spectrum worked at all. So much of the design skirted on the limits of what should work and all the bits you definitely need to include to make things reliable were just absent.

People interested in old tech or programming can be pretty weird about anything.

Definitely used to have a haul of books, magazines and hand written scribblings of "important" programming stuff back in the day. Heck some of it I still have (and those I don't I still miss).

Botty McBotButt. Your welcome.

Now I'm going to spend the rest of the day wondering whether Egghead was technically an egg or just someone whose head was egg shaped. And had no body. Maybe just include another caveat about boxing gloves to keep the pretenders out.

Or doesn't like Trump. Depending on the OPs political opinions.

What does muddy brown and washed out grey smell like?

I got the exciting score of NaN. I'm either doing this very right or very wrong...

100% agree. I once blocked all internet traffic whilst working remotely because the secpol editor reordered a list in a way I wasn't expecting (two lessons learned - don't do hard things when off sick and pay attention to what you actually click rather than what you think you clicked)

If it doesn't involve an underpaid actor, hamming it up whilst dressed as Bertie Bassett and regretting whatever life choices lead them there. Is it really Dr Who?

That's why you put it on "week days only" display, so you never see the weekends and thus do not have to care.

Honestly you probably deserved to get paid for playing that on multiple formats.

Yeah, is a PITA to calculate exactly. IIRC once a PUSH gets synced up though, all the rest align nicely. Been ages since I tried getting my head round it though!

Are you taking into account contention, which will periodically stretch instructions?
July 21, 2025 at 10:57 PM
Yeah, it can vary from church to church (and depend on specific denominations too). More often than not "appropriate" music is used to steer you away from anything deviating from religious norms.

Also Church weddings will generally insist on church music

Loved Quazatron. Still think it's a cracking game.
July 12, 2025 at 9:51 PM
I thought much the same thing about the Spectrum Next. An awful lot of engineering going into allowing you to plug original expansions in without any real justification of why you'd want to.

Nobody will ever be moved by a piece of art quite as much as by Count Duckula 2 on the Amstrad CPC. Clearly a higher form of art than the Mona Lisa.

I never understood the logic behind it. There's a similar arcade thing five minutes up the road where you can play as many games as you like for £10 a day. Which made the Barcadia offering of 'pay to play' ridiculously expensive.

That might depend on her current relationship and exactly how she came to see them.
