Absolutely. 67% of voters didn't vote for the Nazi party in Nov 1932 but they were the largest party. Political machinations in a politically unstable environment gave Hitler the chancellorship. AfD doubled their share. This really needs to seen as be a warning not a comfort blanket.

Indeed. It's been building for 15 years. The Russians endured years of hypernormalisation and then gave the state away to their rich and created the Russian oligarchy. The US seems to think that is a good template to follow. I'm sure you've seen it but watch Trauma Zone by Adam Curtis on iPlayer.

Why would we expect them to? They generally don't count the words they produce let alone time themselves while they produce their output. They might eventually 'work out' that we want them to spend more or less time producing results.

Exactly this! In the UK our TV news channels are just talking about tariffs. I'm increasingly convinced that these are simply a useful distraction from the dismantling of the US government to create chaos and benefit the oligarchy. Trump is Yeltsin. What will be left for the people in the end?
