Music lover, #VinylSanta, charity shop raider.
And films, I like films too.
Love a bargain.
Huge thanks to my #VinylSanta. A seasonal haul and an intriguing, electic mix of records. Investigatory listening shall commence immediately. Merry Christmas Everyone (not my words, the words of Shakin' Stevens)

Apologies for the delay with the obligatory photo, this arrived last week at the same time as a bunch of other parcels and has only emerged during this morning's wrapping session. #VinylSanta

I took this photo nine years ago today. It may be the best photo I have ever taken. That beautiful woman with the stunning smile looking all joyful (and triumphant?) is my wife, Lisa. I try and make that smile appear as many times as I can every day.

As a young Timmy Mallett fan, I forced my parents to buy me this.

Bad news for Level 42 and China Crisis. Good news for Mark who has replaced [redacted] in Mel's affections.

Right then, let's see what my #VinylSanta recipient is going to end up with.

If I had any way of playing this, I would absolutely be buying it.

Latest #VinylSanta trip cancelled due to weather-induced bus issues (the main issue being no guarantee of getting out of or, more importantly, back into the village). But as the weather is the best kind of weather I don't mind.

Can anyone find out anything about this 7"? Picked it up cheap, couldn't see anything online about it, but it says skank music, which was enough for me. A couple of decent 80's ska tracks, singer seems to have a midlands accent (although I am terrible at placing accents).

Another sky photo, another lamppost silhouette. I might make this my trademark. #lamppostsilhouette

First #VinylSanta shopping trip drew a blank. A minor setback. It's still early.

The lamppost across the road from that view displays this piece of wonderful graffiti.

Colourful morning sky (with birds).

I'm not sure I can handle this level of horror.

Hello to my #VinylSanta. Here are some stats to give an idea of the music I like, my most-streamed artists. There's ska, punk, ska punk, indie, pop, reggae, Spanish, French, Polish, German, guitars, brass, synths, strings. Also, there's a decade of clues over on Twitter under andy_alcock. Have fun.

Musically, it wasn't my kind of thing. However, being in a room full of people for whom that was their thing created an enjoyable atmosphere and energy. And the band put on a good show.

This promises to be an interesting Friday night. When my wife thinks of Cradle of Filth she reminisces about her teen metal years. When I think of Cradle of Filth I reminisce about The IT Crowd.

A change of weather but no change of luck. Lost 5-1.

The local pub team may not be very good (haven't won a game all season), but it's always worth popping down on a Sunday morning due to the views.

Took 14yo daughter to her first proper gig tonight, Wednesday 13 (who is a man) performing Murderdolls songs (his former band) at Riverside, Newcastle. Not the kind of thing I usually listen to, but I really enjoyed it and Mr 13 is very charismatic. I'll be listening to more Murderdolls from now on.

You know what they call Pam Royle* in France?

* You'll probably need to have lived in the ITV Tyne Tees region at some point over the past 30 years to know who Pam Royle is, so this joke has quite a niche audience.
