Mademoiselle Gabrielle (1884 - ?) "The Living Half-lady," was born without legs in Basle, Switzerland. She first performed at the Paris Exposition in 1900 and moved moved to America in 1914 and worked for Ringling Brothers and performed at Coney Island. She retired wealthy and was married 3 times.

I keep thinking now I would like to be in a dark jazz/ sleaze-lounge/ downtempo/Lynchian band called Boudoir Dolls that has early Josef Fenneker/Bellocq- Storyville/Brassai etc art/photography on the record sleeves but alas I cannot play any musical instruments or sing in tune ... But anyway ...

The Massachusetts State Prison Cat ~ Leslie Jones (circa 1917)
This cat (whose name unfortunately I don't know) reputedly foiled the escape attempt of the inmate, killer & torturer Jesse Pomeroy in 1913. The cat spotted Pomeroy in the prison corridor and began to mew, alerting a guard.
