Didn’t they oppose universal free school meals on the basis that it would also benefit kids whose parents could afford to pay? 🤔

Re this, my reading of what is written on the webpage referenced is that evidence is a requirement for segregated spaces, not for trans-inclusive provision. In other words, trans inclusive by default.

These things, along with cigarette butts, are the scourge of suburban living. Vapes, vape packaging, the boxes, the plastic wrappers, the stickers decorating the bins outside the shops selling them, the pointless rubber plugs in each orifice… Smoking and vaping litter is everywhere.

I see a party where those with ability/expertise rise upward, and lead with ideas.

I don’t doubt there are things that will need to change, but from my perspective there is lots that works well. The Special Interest group representation and the prioritisation ballot being two examples.

We all need to do our bit to maintain a healthy culture and resist this descent into toxicity. GP culture is one of reasons I became a member—along with reading Molly. Calling GP members/voters you don’t agree with a Tory is such a turn-off.

Btw I think all the leadership candidates are awesome. I also think growing the membership and increasing grassroots participation are important, while maintaining non-hierarchical decision making and decentralisation.

I think part of the concern is that maybe not everyone sees Green as a political philosophy in its own right, and not a direct descendent of socialism. I think it’s great that the party attracts eco-socialists but I wonder if there’s some tension in that philosophy that makes Green thinkers anxious.

And then to cap it all, ever decreasing choice.

I love cars, but they belong in museums. I wouldn’t buy a new car today. I hope my current car will be my last, and that I’ll have access to a car club when the time comes.

For me, owning a car is like being addicted to something that makes you sick.

Car ownership is a miserable experience. When we were young, we looked forward to it, until we reached the first obstacle: the cost of driving lessons, then the car, then insurance. Quickly followed by the heartache of someone crashing into it, repair costs, depreciation…
