In the 90s, my mother and (teenage) I both read The Handmaid's Tale. While I was most horrified by the actual confinement and rapes of the Handmaids, my mother's horror was the moment when women could not access their own bank accounts. Because that's when they lost all power.

Impossible not to know if you're having a head MRI, but I have torso MRIs every year and there are no plates. I think that was a long time ago, I vaguely remember that from a knee MRI.

Most of those things were things learned at school. The parents' names, phone numbers and addresses is the only real concern I have on that list. Reading a clock, counting money, cursive were all 2nd/3rd grade curriculum when I was in school and when I was teaching primary.

I'm wondering about this production. The Sound of Music is one of the few times I think the movie improves on the stage show. But the quality of the company can make a huge difference.
