jesus on the cross, but it's... quite different. the cross is in the shape of an X, and he is only loosely tied to it instead of crucified. he doesn't appear to be in any sort of pain, instead shrugging this situation off. also, his legs are spread, knees bent. under different circumstances, it would look inappropriate.

today's weird medieval thing is this dutch aquamanile from c. 1400, naturally called "woman on top" and featuring aristotle and phyllis

from a 13th c English bestiary, my favorite ever owl. that haircut. the eyebrows. the expression. the mouth/mustache. literally cannot be beaten. the other birds really need to stop bullying it smh
