One of your best artists, Edie Woolf, went on this podcast to talk about her work, career and the very best rhythm games out there. If you like video games, music and, well, really good art, you might like this.

A casual reminder that Dialogue Tree is no longer on Spotify. The analytics say that was the 2nd most popular platform for the show, so it *is* kind of a big deal for me to pull the show off there, in terms of reach.

I think this turned out pretty ok so it'd be cool if you gave it a listen 🎧
This week, something different.

In episode 012, I interview @supergroovy.net, the founder of the YouTube channel that became the focal point for a creative community that gave a second life to an almost forgotten game.

Meet @videodojo.games, the team that built Game Builder Garage.

A band whose passive toxicity has infected multiple generations of musicians and journalists who should know better. There is nothing, *nothing*, quite like this band to bring out the laziest journalism going.

Happy to have been invited to contribute to @underplayedpod.bsky.social's season opener, and even happier to have not tanked it completely. I'm not saying how I contributed. You'll have to listen.

(which you should be doing anyway, as it's a great show that excels at constructive commentary)
A new episode kicking off our 8th season is here! We’re reviewing Slay the Princess — The Pristine Cut from @blacktabbygames.com alongside our guest @djstormageddon.com! We’re also reviewing games from @optillusiongames.bsky.social and @witchbeam.com.au!

I wrote and recorded a podcast looking back on 10 years of @mrsambarlow.bsky.social's Her Story. It was fun to make, and I think it's an ok listen.

Here's a trailer if you're curious.
Her Story, @mrsambarlow.bsky.social's milestone interactive movie game, was released 10 years ago this week. I played it for the first time, then wrote and recorded a podcast about it.

Here is a trailer for episode 010 of Dialogue Tree, on "10 years of Her Story".

Listen wherever you get your podcasts. Play wherever you get your eye poppingly hard Metroidvanias.
Give me 30 minutes, and I think I can convince you to play my favourite game from 2024, the excellent debut from @squidshock.bsky.social, Bö: Path of the Teal Lotus.

I shout in this one. That was fun.
White knuckles, clenched teeth, absolute joy.

Not to be too dramatic, but "Finally We Are No One" genuinely changed how I listened to music. When I heard that album, it made me listen to what is there, rather than what is not. It led me to appreciating and enjoying so much *more* music, whether it sounded like múm or not.

It's fucking amazing.
