I did a 9 month Spanish course in my late 30s and it was the hardest thing I've ever done. It would have been easier if I got comfortable with speaking earlier at risk of sounding stupid.

Work on speaking too: it will help the listening! Read out loud and listen to yourself. When you feel more comfortable, see if your local library has a language program where you can practice Spanish and your partner can practice their English.

This can be good with some direction, focusing on treating AI like a really excited intern instead of a rational expert. Helping identify hallucinations and critically evaluate the sources the model spits out would be ideal as well.
