I got unexpectedly emotional during that whole sequence, fantastic episode!

The target can escape the vines with a STR save, DC 12(+2 per vine that grapples them). If grappled by 3 or more vines the target gains the restrained condition. On the Hollenrebe's turn restrained creatures lose 1d6 Hp per vine.

I've got a similar one,

Hollenrebe are vampiric plants that grow in clusters of 5 to 15 vines. Each vine has ten Hp and 14 Ac. When hitting a creature each vine rolls to hit and dealing 1d4 dmg and automatically grapples the target on hit.

My own character is suffering from severe MC Syndrome, so it might happen.

In the past year and a half my players have gone down three, maybe four times. No one has died once. Next session I'm throwing them in a time loop where they will die repeatedly just to make up for it.
