No, I don't agree with that at all. It is a direct reference to 2015. And it quotes that because that is the example being cited by the MPs cited in the post. You need to take it up with Catherine West ...

We've tweaked the headline because it was too strong. (But not for the reason you think - it was a reference to 2015, which was an electoral disaster for the Lib Dems!)
