My local supermarket has a labubu UFO catcher. But only about 3 or 4 in there. Nobody seemed to notice!

I just reposted a post about press freedom. Others are posting what your rights are when arrested. But of course, all that only works when the rights work. There’s a reason why Joshua Wong and others are still in jail in Hong Kong. When democracy dies, press freedom and rights no longer apply.

There are two ways to fight brute autocracy: brute resistance (civil war) or intellectual/informed resistance. He’s preparing for the former with his pardons, police state and deportations etc. he’s just preparing to quash the latter - believing he can win the former. We’re soon to see.

I don’t think it’s meant to make sense. Just the total control part.

Charlie Chaplin/Stan Laurel; Cary Grant/Elizabeth Taylor; Vivian Leigh/Alfred Hitchcock/2001: a space odyssey/Star Wars; Superman (Christopher Reeve)/Wicked/Mission Impossible…. Let’s go “back” to when American films were American-made only!

UK disenfranchises after 15 years away…

(I know shouting about it doesn’t necessarily achieve much! And I’m not American, and can’t vote anywhere in the world anyway!) So sometimes I have to just give in to the outrage!

Leg is fine, though it won’t return to a full level of mobility, I think!

Sometimes you have to pinch yourself that the change to corporate feudalism, making of the modern peasantry, establishment of billionaire rule - and the effects on the rest of the whole world - are all happening in real time, and the coverage and outrage can seem muted.

How weak and pathetic and insecure and wrong and vindictive these child-adults are. Not even strong enough to face up to the past, yet they’re sure their “vision“ of the future is correct and they will try to bully others into believing so

It’s 14 years since the earthquake/tsunami/meltdown. Which means it’s 10 years since this cover design of mine, using a photo I took on a trip a few months earlier when passing through Kessenuma, Miyagi prefecture. Yes, that building used to be some hundred metres or so from the sea.

As you say, we’re already so far gone that war in Europe is possible anyway. As i think it was the Danish premier said yesterday: we’ve got a time scale of a couple of months at most

Did you see that a Tass reporter was in the Trump/Vance - Zelenskyy press conference? AP and Reuters were not allowed. They say it was a mistake, but Russian Tass reporter accidentally gaining access to the inner sanctum of the White House cannot be a mistake!

Jan 2017 cover for the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan. The New Year issue was usually a round up and 2017 was the Year of the Rooster.
Now Trump has exiled the AP, Reuters is concerned about press access, Bezos is changing the opinion pages of the Post.
The chickens are coming home to roost.
