The only thing that could stop our democratic decline is a horrendous event that no one wants, like a nuclear war or something similarly catastrophic
February 10, 2025 at 3:57 PM
I never did. The biggest reason democrats lost is because we are on the downswing of the arc of history. We are facing an inexorable crisis of democratic decline and trust in institutions.

Bernie didn’t bring a significant voting base into play at all. The contingent of leftists that don’t support democrats is like <1%
February 10, 2025 at 3:03 PM
Bernie is not someone who would get unlikely voters to turn out
February 10, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Me when I’m delusional
February 9, 2025 at 6:12 AM
They would? But they only make 45% of the voter base, so Idk what your point is
February 9, 2025 at 6:12 AM
tell me what the alternative is. nominate bernie and lose 2020 70-30? come on

You can’t interpret the sky as green. You didn’t take into account any historical factor into account. Read the debates yourself

An amendment requires more approval than the initial author’s. The published amendment is very different from the original author’s proposed one because congress had all these debates where they specifically decided jus soli applied to children of illegals immigrants. That’s the version passed
January 27, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Except the originalist roots specifically debate the issue that you have, and conclude against your viewpoint. An illegal immigrant in 1866 is the same as an illegal immigrant today
January 26, 2025 at 6:54 PM
That’s not how law works. You can’t just misinterpret it because you feel that contexts have sufficiently changed to render it obsolete. You have to pass amendments to the constitution to change this
January 25, 2025 at 6:10 PM
you can literally read the entirety of the senate debates; they explicitly argue over whether illegal chinese and romani immigrants' children should be citizens or not. spoiler alert: they concluded that they should be
January 24, 2025 at 5:03 PM
Oh true, all they do is encourage countries to invade and bomb places bordering them! Like Russia
January 22, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Unlikely. The most likely anti-liberal thing that could happen to the US is it becomes a Hungary style state in the 2040s, which no one should want

I did this sophomore year of college winter quarter, but i clocked 200 hours in 1 month. It was my first league. managed to get a headhunter, then i double corrupted it bricked it and quit the game forever. I also almost failed all my classes and i skipped like 70% of them. Got an A in analysis tho

Homelessness has many causes, and its rise can coexist with the bottom decile doing much better. 13.2% real wage increase is a lot. That’s like 2.5 months of rent people are better on
January 3, 2025 at 4:57 PM
Never said it was impossible. Sue me for being cynical when the response to “the poorest of our society have had the greatest marginal wealth increase” is, “well actually this is bad because of {platitude}.” Economic recovery isn’t just numbers, it’s people living better and wealthier lives.
December 29, 2024 at 6:48 AM
the structural issues being, lemme guess, the existence of capitalism or some other abstract “bad” that is not actually the structural issues causing worse quality of life for people
December 28, 2024 at 7:18 PM
he only mentioned the change in the number of homeless people, nothing about the total amount

Breaking bad is a story about pride and ego—about Ozymandias, king of kings

If you spend your whole life trying to be comfortable, you’ll never live something worthwhile
