Economics professor in Germany. I spend my time teaching economics and supporting Bolton Wanderers, both thankless tasks.
George Best on the wing in 1981, Pele as manager in 1982. Eeh, what could have been? (Not sure it would have ended well, mind you!)

Sam, I’ve been meaning to write to you for ages.

Your show is fantastic. The depth and intellectual rigour of the analysis is amazing. Your discussion on Shedeur is a case in point. I always come away understanding miles more about the NFL.

Thank you so much.

All the best from Germany!

Some top-class stuff there. I especially like Tim‘s BWFC radar 👍

Really insightful article, thanks.
I still think it was a great idea as back in Jan 2024, some of us had dreams of becoming the next Brentford or Brighton. It fitted wonderfully into the general direction of the club.
Your article made it clear yet again how much Wembley was a sliding doors moment.

I totally agree, had totally forgotten how much I disliked all of them.

It was, I had completely forgotten about it. I am beginning to feel this is not fake…

I really liked him in our team pre-Schumacher but thought he was out of sorts the last 6-7 weeks (e.g. the miss in the last game of the season). We have to trust Schumacher and Harkin here.

As you wrote recently, Marc, some people will not be happy with decisions made. And this is the first one.

Thanks to both of you for working though the summer break.

I loved the bit about all those Magdeburg fans coming to the Macron. That was some crazy story. Only time Bolton made it onto the pages of my favourite German football monthly 11 Freunde (apart from near-bankruptcy).

Anyone who uses 80s / 90s football analogies to describe trade policy should be knighted in my humble opinion. Love it!

Thanks for all 50+ of these this season, Marc. I‘m sure it’s a lot of extra work and I‘m just as sure you regretted having the idea more than a few times.
I listened to almost all of them and found them therapeutic after a loss, uplifting after a win and simply interesting after a draw.
Thank you!

And spare a thought for Mrs Schumacher, whose summer holiday has now been cancelled.

Lack of belief all over the pitch. McAtee and Collins look exhausted, how many minutes have they now played since Victor got injured? You alluded to that point in the pod.

This team *can* play football, we saw it when Schumacher took over, but it seems really fragile when things don’t go well.

Love the name of the episode. Too early to Panic about BWFC because What Difference Does It Make but to be honest, I Know It´s Over.

I´ll get my coat...

I like the clever use of card and hallmark in the same statement.

As a fellow Englishman living in Germany and feeling the same emotions as you: thank you for expressing my feelings so eloquently.

What a nightmare. Under those circumstances, I’m surprised “take it” is still an option!
All the more reason to express my gratitude.
