The (now closed) Sir Colin Campbell down at Gloucester Docks. Always reliable for a late night lock in or an underaged pint.

Spent my last day in Algeria exploring its third city, Constantine, which is built atop rocky promontories linked by 8 bridges. Breathtaking.

That’s it, that’s the end of my Algerian photos! Such an amazing trip, and at least some of it will make it into the book!

Last day of ruins today: Timgad, the Roman city of Thamugadi, up on the high plateau and so well preserved; the Medrecen, the tomb of a Numidian king, as featured on the 2000 dinar note; and the Tomb of Massinissa, in the foothills above Constantine (his old capital of Cirta).

Another day another ruined Roman city - this time Djemila, up in the hills west of Constantine. Wonderful.
