Delivery driver arrived as I was just about to start on the tree so decided to crack it straight away just cos. It's £30 at Tyndrum currently! Seems pretty solid, a little water and a bit of time softens it. Got to assume it's Glen Scotia for 98% despite a whiff of Springbank 10 about the nose.

Yep. I'll have that.

Clearing up cupboard space. I never really got the suggested tasting notes and never really sure I 'got' it. Anyway, I really liked it with a dash of edition 4 added.

Springer 12 bold as brass in a window! £15 above RRP but probably not far off fair for a small retailer. Still left it behind as that's above my budget these days.

Rare Saturday off. She says I've too many unopened bottles so decided to crack 4 I've not tried yet. Maybe I'll get it in the neck about all the open bottles now. Can't win. Guessing my preference will be ascending from left to right.

Furtive kitchen cooking dram and bottle kill. The Aquavitae crowd raved but rarely hit 7/10 for me. Of course it's a 7 today on the way out. Think the £45 I paid was fair though.

At what price do you bail out of buying a bottle of whisky? Had a Meikle Toir Turbo in the basket at a fair price, progressed to check out - £14.99 delivery please. Nope. I’m out. Is that fair for a small retailer or am I too tight?

Furtive generous final dram in the kitchen while I make tea and the other half is having a 'well deserved' nap. Unremarkable but a steady 6/10 - won't be seeking another. Unfortunately I already have another.

One more space cleared in the cupboard. Quite enjoyed this given it's only a young whisky - works well in warm weather particularly. Will wait a few years before getting another to see how they are ageing.

Never had a Dalmunach. At £36 for a CS version can’t be too much of a gamble or is it just better to get double the age of a more known product with a SV 100 proof for a tenner more. Some other interesting priced ones with TWB too.

One last push. Didn't really get on with this bottle.

I’m a tedious Whiskybase type but the biggest joy from it is closing one off so I can review the stash as to what to open next as I limit it to 20 open bottles at any one time.

Ok, so it’s 43% but it’s really good. Can’t leave that at £50 but need to gen up on the other Benromach on offer too (the unpeated Contrast at £40?) @aberdeenwhiskyshop.bsky.social

It's surprisingly hot so finished the bottle with tonic water. Bought all 3 main LL 12s a while ago. Standard 12 replaced twice, the Imchmurrin once but will probably count this as a one and done.

How can a supermarket (Booths) have Wire Works first release on the shelf in 2025?! They can't have found a box in the back after this many years surely!

I like a bit of Ardna but the bit in this never really got me going. Had to make a concerted effort to finish it to give me an excuse to open something new.

I'm entering a new decade so at least one bottle needs opening to mark it.

Anyone had much luck with this series from The Whisky Barrel? A few seem to have come up cheaper recently and seem reasonable but are they just bang average for price. Deanston/Aberlour CS with ages for £60 is not common!

Never trust a wedding to have nice whisky. KK8 in miniatures in the bag and furtively decanted.

£55 delivered. Was glad when the price came up as I’m well off track for my 2025 whisky budget.

This was decent when I opened it first and opened up so well it was my most enjoyed bottle of the last 6 months despite it 'only' being a blend and NAS. My favourite bargain whisky by a mile and always on offer somewhere or other.

Did Bert's view from pisser thing die?
April 13, 2025 at 7:35 PM
Bottle kill. Ok, it was sub £40 in Tesco but not one I'll buy again. Nothing wrong but too disjointed to really enjoy.

20% off at Loch Lomond for all bar the high age whiskies. Just got a Distillery Edition 7 for £56. Also supposedly get a 3 x 5cl pack free. Shall have a cheeky snifter of this at lunch to help make way.
