I think the key is applying for units that become vacant later in March so the landlord feels happy to have someone lined up for as soon as they can turn the unit over

I'd say it depends on how competitive the rental market is. I assume it's pretty fierce in your neck of the woods. Earlier is always better in my opinion.

Supporting local businesses without relying on Meta to be a centralized bulletin board seems like it will be difficult. Most small business owners lack the bandwidth for yet another platform to keep updated. Why wouldn't they stay on the site that already has 75% of their customers hooked on it?
