I went on the Pod Damn America podcast (hilarious name for a podcast, btw) to discuss Marx in America -- they titled the episode on my idea for a great counter-historical novel: "Karl Marx: Texas Ranger."

In conversation with Mogens Lykketoft, former leader of Danish Social Democrats, & Niels Bjerre-Poulsen, Denmark's US explainer--about the future of the American left. At the Arbejdermuseet, or the Workers Museum in Copenhagen, located in the Workers' Assembly Hall, the oldest in Europe.

Talking Marx in America in Berlin was a blast. The German academics gave me a proper grilling and I loved every minute. Now onto Aarhus for a talk tomorrow (Friday) and then Copenhagen on Monday. Links below.

Had a great time talking Karl Marx in America in Oxford. They even put me up in the “Shelley Suite.” Now on to Berlin.

Most memorable part of my book launch at King's College was when Robin Blackburn, whom I've long admired, began his comments by declaring everyone on the left or anyone who wants to know more about the history of the left should read my book.

Monthly Review, an independent socialist magazine in the US founded after WW2, kept a robust version of Marx alive even through the Red Scare years. Pictured here are the MR writers with Castro, Paul Sweezy, Paul Baran, Leo Huberman, ca 1963.

David Horowitz died. As a friend & Horowitz expert told me, his hatred of the left is what kept him alive for so long. Evidence of that is found in this cartoon of Marx in drag (meant to satirize the cultural turn taken by the left) which appeared in Horowitz's anti-academic magazine Heterodoxy.
