Like most German commentators on/in the USA, Elmar #Theveßen does his job primarily by reading left-wing websites such as Mother Jones, Media Matters, Salon or Slate and simply repackaging their contents for German viewers. He has never understood & will never understand the USA.

Elmar Theveßen, head of the Washington bureau for German public broadcaster ZDF, accuses White House aide Stephen Miller of drawing on ideas "from the Third Reich", apparently unaware Miller is Jewish. This is the absymal level of mainstream German coverage of the USA.

Unlike what @ardenthistorian.bsky.social might have you believe, the opinions of Charlie Kirk were mainstream right-wing opinions in the US. Just as Brockschmidt's solidarity with violent left-wing terrorist Lina E. are mainstream left-wing opinions in Germany.
