When people talk about #barcelona #architecture they usually mean #Gaudi, but there are plenty of 20th century buildings that reward documentation #believeinfilm #filmphotography #nikkormat #nikkor #analogphotography

Getting some light banding on the bottom and top of frame on my DSLR film scanning setup (see lightening of the blacks on bottom and top of image). Anybody know why this might be? Currently using an iPad for light source. #filmscanning #analogphotography

Tried and failed to take a photo that does justice to this urban taller in Gracia. Need faster film or steadier hands. Does anybody make a stroller tripod? #fujifilm #gs645s #analogphotography #mediumformat #film

Tried my hand at scanning film with my mirrorless camera, a vintage Nikon lens, a tripod, and my iPad. First pass went badly but I’m pretty pleased with the second. Using Valoi 35/120 holders. They work well (although I wish they showed the sprocket holes). 120 film tomorrow! #analogphotography

Nice! Mine needed new light seals (the ad didn’t say anything about it) and there’s some fungus marks on the lens that can cause a bit of a bloom effect when shooting into the sun (see pic), but I don’t really mind. Do you have a battery solution? The G uses an old battery type if memory serves.

So for now I’m going to be extra careful with this new GS645S while I carry it on my daily walks. The reality is that all cameras break unless they sit on a shelf; my aim is to give this one a chance to make some fantastic images with me.

The vast majority of my photography is done on morning walks with my dog on a leash and my daughter in a stroller, so I need something I can carry with me and, in a pinch, shoot one handed. I love the 35mm focal length and the 645 format gives me a couple extra shots.

Ultimately, I returned because simply put, there is no other portable #mediumformat camera with an internal light meter and a 35mm equivalent lens at this price point. The old foldables are all 50mm or more, or predate light meters, and the newer MF point & shoots like #mamiya7 are twice the price.

All that said, it has charm. The grip holds well, and it feels good in the hand. The controls (all on the barrel aside from the shutter release) are plastic but positive in their indexing. The viewfinder is bright and large, and although the patch is small and dim it’s not awful to focus.

The camera is weird. The crash bar is giving Suzuki Samurai vibes and it has an overall strangeness to its proportions. The leaf shutter sounds more like a disposable camera than anything “professional,” a title it proudly proclaims on its side in green 80’s all-caps. (Photo from first camera)

This is my second #fujifilm #GS645S. My first one broke, less than a week after it arrived from Japan (and a month after Reddit told me they were unreliable). Indeed old cameras like this are a dying breed as the plastic components become more brittle with age. So why’d I come back to the well?

Some digital shots from #sants and #Eixample in #barcelona. The first is my favorite pic I’ve taken in a while, partially because it was shot in an instant and fully manual (been training for shooting film). What are your recent favorite shots and why? #xpro2 #fujifilm #streetphotography

I’m a sucker for circular mirror selfies, every time I see one I have to take a pic.
