Totally understood, man. That’s me playing most Pokémon games these days, tbh. I think our sense of wonder gets depleted as we get older.

Makes me think of the Silicon Valley folks who recognize the existential threat(s) posed by AI but say, “If we don’t harness the tech ourselves, who knows what China will do with it first.”
