This has sent me round the twist, my employer in my payslip asking me to donate my wages to… my employer so they can… treat me better? Wild. Just another NHS moment.

Just saw Retrograde in the west end which was EXCELLENT and absolutely worth 90 minutes of your time. Don’t read the synopsis, just accept your fate and get a ticket.
(Other things that are EXCELLENT still playing are Giant, Kyoto, Titanique, Benjamin Button)

Not to sound like an old man but why is the front page for UK users of BBC News prominently featuring a story about Saturday Night Live, a show that literally cannot be watched in this country? You can't stream it, it's not on TV. Who cares that it's had an anniversary show?

It’s a bit cryptic but is the implication here a phone call was made to ICU but the patient not seen? Another example of treating any “making you aware” call as a need for full in person assessment?

These were the disappointments. Especially Romeo and Juliet. School For Scandal is the only thing I walked out of at the interval. The Tempest wasn't completely terrible but Sigourney Weaver was, and that was most of the point of the production. Avoid!

These were my highlights. Not necessarily in a specific order just generally stuck up near the top. Many of these are still running, touring, or getting a west end transfer imminently and you should see them and tell me what you think.

My theatre wrapped for 2024. 44 shows seen, some at the fringe, overall 15 things outside of London. My strategy this year is to see fewer things but try and make every one of them a winner. The median ticket price this year was £35, it's still not as expensive as it seems to see good theatre.

I love the idea of POC imaging but these replies to a Bluesky post showing some lung ultrasound findings show how variable the training/abilities of POCUSers can be; two doctors saw precisely the same images and came to completely different conclusions.

If you liked Wicked but just thought every scene should be twice as long, then this really is the film for you.

Does anyone remember the Brodyquest video? I’m watching this great play but also all that’s going through my mind is that synthy bassline.

This is really something. One of the best marriages of actor and role I’ve ever seen, John Lithgow was incredible. Not a flawless play but some real moments of magic.

Hi friends, since this place is having a shakeup, an intro. I'm Andrew, I'm a doctor, currently an ICU and anaesthetic registrar working in the West Midlands. I like talking about work stuff but I also am a big fan of theme parks, theatre, politics, being gay, railways, history and my cat (Pimlico).

There’s an interesting shift in attitude I’ve noticed amongst newer doctors, I think fuelled by all the the reasonable animosity and disputes they’ve come up during, that they owe so little to the system they’ve lost the basic professional attitudes of having a job. This is an example of that.

I don’t wish to harp on about this but if you think the price is too expensive (and it is) you should say “this is too expensive, shame on you Oasis” and not purchase the ticket.

You haven’t been ripped off, because you saw the price and decided to continue. Thats just a fair exchange of goods.

The waiting room in Edinburgh Waverley railway station goes way too hard and I love it

I don’t watch a lot of weekend morning news television and it’s clear I’ve been missing out

I don’t think they photograph very well but recently my hospital have put up an art exhibition by Georgie Meadows in a corridor, they’re all ‘stitched drawings’ of elderly people and there’s something strangely moving about them.
