My second-ish embroidery project is in honor of the magical rite I designed, a gratitude process lasting 56 days following a Venus-Jupiter conjunction, “the days of cedar and rose.” I just washed the starch paper out of the embroidery so it can dry tonite; my 2nd try at a cedar and rose mandala.

The Sun is in the last 10° of Cancer from July 11 to July 22, 2025. Here's horoscopes and lore connected with this season and time of year. It's also a personal milestone, as I complete six years of writing astrology forecasts…

I lightened this one up a lot. Puffy waistcoat in high contrast color. Huge scarf. Drop crotch pants with sloppy pleats. Shoes with a bit of a chunky sole. A sort of slouchy waist length coat with sleeves partially covering the hands.

Card based poetry for 19 May 2025

Two cards:
- trouble can attack from any angle;
But rash acts won’t solve the current wrangle.

Three cards:
- fear of challenge — not same as “fight!”
Don’t rush to solve — problems not yours;
Review, delay — choose inertia.

Two cards:
- many come at you in many a way,
but a life of wisdom keeps them at bay.

Three cards:
- challengers come — the fights are real;
the artisan — knowing their craeft
just does the work — at their best speed.

Card-based poetry for 15 May 2025
Deck is Rider-Waite-Smith

Two cards:
- a time of respite and brief ease arrives,
but plan to deal with material drives.

Three cards
- ground staked and held — no need to grow;
plan the working — and work on the plan;
be of good cheer — at ease but armed.

Card based poetry for 14 May 2025
Deck is Rider-Waite-Smith, obvi.

Two:
more of the same emotional dunnage:
you won’t find peace if you stay to rummage.

Three:
look to the past — all the same stuff;
find other stars — to steer your craft;
fresh aptitudes — powers pending.

Deck is Robert M. Place's "Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery."

2 cards
- By Night restored, bringing both hounds to heel,
play is delayed for sake of common weal.

3 cards
- play, ease and rest — flesh, mind sated;
now mount the day — eager to act:
gifts retracted — honors reversed.
May 13, 2025 at 11:27 AM
Cards for 12 May 2025:

two cards, hanged man reversed and page of wands:
- best practice is undone by selfish deeds
but messages come which tend to your needs.

Three cards:
- hanging around — without good plans
waiting for notes — that bring swift change
worried for coin — wealth scattered, lost.

I was looking through a fabric bin for a project, and found part of a prototype for a Thema Mundi banner. I guess a gotta finish this next/now whole waiting for the rain to let up. (Forgot to add alt text, so deleted and reposted this with alt text)

I like the serif one. My preferred typeface style for print/PDF is Bodoni 72 Oldstyle (shown) but I get feedback: people wanted me to use Palatino or Garamond for readability (Also, US gov't docs used Garamond for a while because it saved the US printing office $500 mil/year in printing costs.)

A friend of mine introduced me to a new meter today, the Tristubh from early/Vedic India. I'm an Iambic Pentameter guy myself, but... even with just my first few experiments in the meter, color me deeply impressed. This metrical pattern has some serious chops… as well it should, given its origins.

Dovetails on both boards cut out, and trimmed. Next step — cutting the pins on the bottom of the case.

My woodworking space is outside under our deck, and setting it up requires good weather. Today’s job, cutting dovetails for a Dutch tool chest.

@newmanasemics.bsky.social here’s my attempt. But I don’t think it feels nearly so laden with meaning as your various works. Bravo, to you. I doubt I’m going to be able to do this again.

Here’s one of my books of poetry THE SUN’S PACES, used to train AI. And one of the roleplaying books I worked on for EXALTED, for #whitewolfgamesystems — does the world need a digital poet? — a digital game master?
