Public servant, Art Deco obsessive.
One of the great underrated things about the movie is that Jessup is actually a massive coward. He blusters and shouts, but when it came to brass tacks, he tried to save his own ass instead of owning the Coe Red. He was willing to let two Marines burn instead.

The boring Bari Weiss specials will continue until ratings improve.

Better than 2025 Lagway, absolutely. But which of that group is the likeliest to give you genuinely great, This Guy Wins Us Games QB play? Paradoxically, I think it's probably still Lagway (I'm also not counting the Philo egg until it hatches, just on general "Things Don't Work Out for UF" grounds).

The money issue does make that calculus trickier, to be sure.

This makes plenty of sense. What I struggle with, though, is the probability question. Who's likelier to give you high-quality QB play in 2026: Lagway, Jones, a true freshman Griffin, or Unnamed Portal QB? Who would you want to bet on? And I think Lagway might be the answer.

It's exciting, but this podcast sounds like it might have the dreaded Meaning.

The Trump strategy of turning *everything* into a vicious public knife fight can have genuine political advantages. But it also means there's no one around who can tell you that Pete Hegseth vs. Mark Kelly is not a fight you want.

I really appreciate this reasonable, nuanced look at Andy Reid and the Chiefs offense. There's plenty to criticize without going full on "Andy Reid doesn't know what he's doing."

The movie very quickly became a culture war object, and once it did, it became very hard to talk about it like a movie.

When I moved to Colorado in 2011, I would tell people I was a Chiefs fan and they would *apologize* to me. This season has sucked, and Mahomes getting hurt made it infinitely worse. But it’s been one of the greatest seven-year runs in NFL history, and nothing is taking that away.

The gold decorations on his sleeves!

Why don't you use the word "guy" one more time, Andrew, you dork.
December 9, 2025 at 9:16 PM
With the one transcendent "get a pass rush win whenever we need it guy" EDGE guy Spags never had (Chris Jones is a nice consolation prize, granted).

You know, I wonder about this. She’s definitely not going away completely. But it sure seems like she’s burned a bunch of bridges. I don’t know if she’ll have many MSM opportunities. An anti-woke Substack would be a pretty sharp fall.

That was the play where Mahomes thought he had a Texans DL offsides. Looks close, though it was a different DT than the one who got the sack.
December 9, 2025 at 2:48 AM
Yeah, it’s been really remarkable — 36-year-old TEs don’t decline two years in a row, then bounce back like Kelce has this year. But tonight…man.

*whispers*

I still think Andy Reid is good.
December 8, 2025 at 3:29 AM
Didn’t they get pretty heavy pressure on that play?
December 8, 2025 at 2:12 AM
Derek Thompson did Hanania’s podcast to promote Abundance.
December 8, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Look, they haven’t had a sack in 100 pass snaps. Let them have this one.
December 8, 2025 at 1:36 AM
Played by Rebecca Ferguson in the movie, right?
December 6, 2025 at 4:35 AM
Dammit man, you beat me to this.
December 5, 2025 at 5:48 PM
I also think refs take way too much pleasure in calling it. "Pass interference...on the *offense.* Oh, weren't expecting that, were you?"
December 5, 2025 at 4:19 AM
So...just straightforwardly copping to being a sociopath, huh?
December 5, 2025 at 3:47 AM
I know this is a popular criticism, and I don’t even disagree with it, but it’s really difficult for me to buy into a narrative that there’s this really easy, really obvious thing the Chiefs could do to unlock their running game, but Andy Reid is simply not intellectually capable of seeing it.
