Still remember in a gig around a decade ago I fixed a bug people were complaining for a long time, ends up that many legacy systems were relying on that bug and I brought down the whole thing by fixing it.. rolled back and never looked at that bug again

Being helpful and kind in tech is a "secret" that people often underestimate. It builds all kinds of bridges to others that will likely be helpful to you as well in the future; that's definitely a core value I share on my team too !
