Ezra Klein: "The crisis is now." Kilmar Garcia is innocent. The courts have ordered his release from the El Salvador prison the US has deported him to, but the US and El Salvador presidents are sitting there, grinning from ear to ear, declaring that's impossible.

Trump has found his way to run […]

Don't panic. Backup is here: https://github.com/MITRE-Cyber-Security-CVE-Database/mitre-cve-database , and I have it from usually well informed sources that ENISA, in cooperation with the national institutions, is working on a replacement, to be launched within weeks

The Ezra Klein Show […]

fuck the cloud. the only way it is possible to have catastrophic loss of access to information like this given the networked technologies we have is because the information conglomerates wormed their way into all information systems, convinced everyone that outsourcing entire categories of […]

How do the kids these days do a parasitic traceroute? Dan Kaminsky's (R.I.P.) website is gone, the copy of paketto that Kris Nova (R.I.P.) preserved on github doesn't build out of the box. There surely must be something fancy?

Milliardär*innen

Ich bin für Diskussionen darüber bereit, wie man das lösen kann. Also […]

Happy #TransDayOfVisiblity! This marks exactly one year since coming put in public, and I have achieved so much in this time.

I must admit it feels a bit weird that a very personal journey ends up being right at the epicenter of a culture war. None of us asked to be a main character in the […]

Just had a look at openDesk, and what it would take to deploy your own. Apparently, the price of admission is a Kubernetes cluster with 12 CPUs and 32GB of RAM. I've clicked through a number of Kubernetes as a service vendors, and it seems there is no option that isn't in the three digits per […]

Ubuntu Sunbeam is frustratingly fragile. Cluster bootstrap fails for me due to timeouts (yup, Internet slow around here). Restarting it then fails because some resources already exist. Ugh.

No matter how much you want it, you can't use a clever definition of "cloud native" to pretend that you compete with the AWS/Azure/Google stack. And please don't try to fool people with a wonky definition, it will backfire eventually. "There is no cloud just other people's computers" means you […]

Ok. Imagine you'd have to build a cloud infrastructure that needs to work independently of U.S. companies. From bare meral to cloud native and office environment, what would your tech stack look like?
