Yes -- this is going to be a big issue for more than a million people, per CBO as @americanprogress.bsky.social highlights here:

Our latest shows that the "Big Beautiful Bill" will be a big pain for older Americans with ACA marketplace coverage -- who are looking at paying thousands more to keep their plan:

What would this bill mean for *Medicare* enrollees? In spite of Trump's promises not to touch the program, here's what 1.3 MILLION people on Medicare can expect:

When asked about Medicaid cuts, the literal head of the federal agency overseeing Medicaid had this to say: "Prove that you matter." Absolutely incredible.
June 5, 2025 at 5:17 PM
And there we have it direct from CBO. The bill + Congressional Republicans' refusal to extend the enhanced ACA tax credits will cost *16 million* people their coverage. Unconscionable.

"Show me your budget and I'll tell you what you value."

There's a lot of disingenuous talk right now about Medicaid work requirements. The facts: almost all people on Medicaid who can work already do.

At BEST work reqs are a waste of resources. At worst (aka whenever they've been tried) they kick *eligible* people off coverage because of red tape.

Great new visual from KFF breaking down the nearly 14 million additional people who'd be uninsured if the GOP is successful.

Here's what a middle-income family of four with marketplace insurance could be looking at for next year if Republicans in Congress are successful:

Also notable -- no further movement on provisions related to informed choice, marketing, internal coverage criteria:

In fact, this is all the HHS Secretary had to say on X today. His first post in two weeks:

Here's a look at how hard hit congressional districts in KY could be. $3.6B lost in KY-05 alone! And close to 100K fewer Kentuckians in that district with Medicaid coverage if FMAP changes are on the table.
February 25, 2025 at 3:45 AM
Here’s an example from one state—West Virginia. Each of the state’s congressional districts could lose over $2.5B in federal support + if Congress alters the FMAP rate, each district could each see close to 80,000 residents lose coverage.

I’ll point to one of the circulated options from House budget committee republicans a few weeks back—which felt like exactly the sort of thing we’d see pushed by this admin:

Fantastic piece on what overhead reductions would mean. As luck would have it, @marquishajohns.bsky.social had a twin pub yesterday digging into just how much states benefit from NIH research awards and how much goes toward infectious disease funding. 🔽
