So what happens now? Who is going to hold them accountable? If no one does, we have entered a very dark age.

Thank you for opposing this inhumane plan. If it goes through, we will all lose. Hospitals and medical practices will close; schools will lose critical funding to take care of kids; burdens will be piled on disabled people, crushing them further. You understand the consequences. Vote accordingly.

There are some surprising names on that list - Senators that have consistently stood for democratic principles and who have previously worked hard for their constituents. I wonder what they were thinking.

What people don't realize is that many hospitals depend on Medicaid patients to survive. A lot of these hospitals serve people of all colors and ages. When Medicaid goes away, so will these places. Good luck surviving your next heart attack, when the nearest hospital gets to be 45 minutes away.

He's both a Nazi and a sociopath, and he now has virtual control over our Treasury. His goal is to amass as much money as possible. The wellness of human beings is an impediment to that goal. He has called the disabled, poor, and elderly part of the "parasite class." Humans are only for slave labor.

Here is my Letter to the Editor that was recently published on this exact topic, asking my Senator to do exactly that: url.avanan.click/v2/r01/___ht...

Their goal is to overwhelm people into paralysis. Pick the one area about which you are most passionate (for me, it's healthcare and the ACA), find the group that is fighting for the cause, and give your energy and money to them. We can't do anything if we are pulled in a million directions.

There are many of us in red states that worked hard for a Harris-Walz victory that will be crushed if the enhanced subsidies are allowed to expire.

Without the enhanced subsidies, my health insurance will double in cost. I really hope this works.

He has such class. I bet he even takes the dishes out of the sink before he pees in it.

This leads to poorer outcomes both in health and economically, in terms of higher costs for those who do pay for insurance. Many cannot afford to pay for the sevices that they receive in ERs, and those costs are passed on in the form of higher premiums. It is a lose-lose proposition for everyone.

If the enhansed subsidies go away, many people will be forced to choose between housing or healthcare, leading to the loss of coverage for so many people. This will bring us back to the days when people delayed care or used emergency rooms as treating physicians when they become acutely ill....

The return of "junk plans" - a little less expensive in the short term, but don't actually cover a person when they really need it. They are a boon for insurance companies, as they make slightly less profit, but have significant savings when it comes to actual care at the expense of the customer.

I thought you might find this article on the potential loss of enhanced subsidies interesting stateline.org/2024/12/11/m...

Regularly watching the news was worse than useless. As a longtime viewer, I thought that I understood the issues that were going to be in play. In the end, none of what they reported mattered to the majority of voters. "News" is just a circle-jerk of wasted time and busted hopes for a better future.

When people get to know one another on a human level, it becomes a lot harder to paint a picture of someone as being something other than who they are. That's not to say some won't try, but it makes the task much harder.

He is a kind and descent man who has served his constituents well. He deserved better from Pennsylvania.

He has been a really good senator who represented his constituents very well, particularly in the area of healthcare. I am very sorry to see him go.

They don't deal in reality. They perpetually create their own "facts" which have no or little basis in truth, and they reject actual real information. There is simply no mechanism with which to create an understanding. Their presence is simply to troll or gunk up the platform.
