We urgently need #CleanAirInHealthcare. At a recent hospital visit I was horrified that the TB clinic was on route (shared air) to Newborn health screening (& Oncology)! Opened windows but not enough. These high risk settings require FFP2+ masking, esp for the clinically vulnerable.

At a routine hospital appt & making use of being here to take pics for next Wednesday's #CleanAirInHealthcare petition bsky-athon.

Just saw this display on Mary Seacole (1805-81) who had great skill as an epidemic physician & who had to find loopholes in the system to do her work (due to racism).
NHS display on Mary Seacole & welcome to Mary Seacole ward. A few paragraphs about her life, slightly sanitised version of turbulence and barriers she faced due to systemic racism in UK, her Scottish father, Jamaican mother and heritage as a healer, contemporary of Florence Nightingale, how she had to fundraise to fund business enterprises as mediums for practicing medicine, such as in the Crimean War. The retirement benefit, a precursor to modern mutual aid, was attended by thousands in London, where she lived out her days following workplace acquired chronic ill health.

The fact there are 12 step instructions for handwashing, yet zero airborne mitigation education for Covid in the NHS, 5yrs in, shows a troubling learning implementation delay at work.

My favourite method of pacing energy (necessary with #ME/CFS, #LongCovid, #TransplantLife) is when Casper sits nearby and looks so cute it delays me doing stuff. Cats have a talent for tricking us into resting. 🤍
