That makes sense. I mean, I had a French name in French class, but if I go to France now, I just use my real name. Although it does seem fun to pick a new one. I wondered if it was a pronunciation thing, but I expect us all to be bad at pronouncing each others’ names til we learn!

When I first read this, it was fiction. I mean, it still is, but some days I still feel like it gets closer all the time.

When I met it, the internet promised a wider world, with very few boundaries of any kind. Ever since, governments and corporations have done nothing but build fences, shutting away knowledge, closing doors, breaking connections. It’s indescribably sad.

This was the first SK book I ever read, when I was 8, home alone while my parents visited their friends next door. Made me a lifelong horror fan! Also, a kid who watched the closet door to make sure it wasn’t open, just a crack.

I loved that book! My parents had the whole series! I’m ready to build a log cabin with mortise and tenon construction. In theory.

I guess it depends on why you want to read King and why you don’t like horror. I don’t agree with the people who are just steering you away from his horror books. Why not meet an artist in the place where he’s best? Tho On Writing was very good. Danse Macabre was like the Cinema Paradiso of horror.

It feels like a long list as I type it out, but 20 years or so of playing with this kind of thing, and motherhood, spurred me on. There are some cool books out there as well.

Hope you’re feeling better. I always enjoy seeing your list! I’ve always been a fan of fun productivity stuff - ever tried www.chorewars.com
?

But I like the whimsicality of your list, and the kind of sense of community.

I should watch the show (or read the book) because I’ve played the first couple of chapters of the game like three times now, but I keep getting a new computer and losing my progress. This sounds like I get a new computer all the time, but I’ve just had the game for a decade.
