Competitive computer nonsense maker. Same andr00 from livejournal, the hug counter, brainstorm demoscene group, old tyme irc.
And very early social media. I mean like, I had to run a web server under my desk and it was in the Globe and Mail.
Repost with an iconic fictional band.

There's a group that's sad when anyone gets murdered
and there's a group that's sad only when someone they like gets murdered
and the second group says the first group is faking it

I have spent a lot of time working on software that automatically synchronizes audio events with visual events and I think we need an app that you give a collection of explosion videos and it sync-sequences them to the 1812 overture.

if they are spacex rockets exploding that's just a bonus

the first step to knowing about something is intuitively hating it so much that you have to figure out what your problem is

Model: a conceptual representation of almost anything
Context: the information that goes with something. Almost anything.
Protocol: rules about how data is transmitted.

These are the generic words you use to pad out your backronym. Using them all in one thing, it's like a guy with three last names

I have worked with a few academic researchers over the years who are also careful and knowledgeable software engineers and boy do I miss them

I have been trying, for 30 years, to come up with a universal system for organizing all my files. Every year I get more files and more ways to organize them. Sometimes I have to migrate the system. At this point I'm thinking of hiring a librarian.

I am not the Andr00d that made a watch project that got out of hand (5th place Revision 2025, Wild)

I do, however have a clock project that is in the process of getting out of hand.

tl;dr I thought a clock that was just a qrcode of the time would be funny and now I have a flip dot display WIP.

If i'm reading this correctly, the easiest way to buy a machine gun in the united states is to open a machine gun store yourself

The keyboardheads talk about keyboards that click in a lower register as sounding like "thock."

I think it sounds like a geiger counter

I bought Star Control in 1990 for $55. That's the same as paying $135 today. It has been weird watching games get cheaper even as they get more expensive to produce.

Part of it is that it doesn't take me a whole year to save $55 these days, but the other part is that the prices just stay the same.

I don't know shit about shit, but nobody's sold me "it has to get worse before it gets better" without explaining to me what the better part is supposed to be.

My grounding in social science is rudimentary at best. My understanding of the utility of currency is that it lets the value one person gives another be abstracted. This enables shaping of social behaviors, as we try to be valuable to one another in whatever way we can so that we can buy ipads.

In retrospect, the decision to call my main Obsidian note-taking vault "2023" was not exactly future-proof.

Me drawing a bunch of boxes with lines and arrows: "This is so stupid. Why do I do this every time?"

Me having to implement the system: "This diagram with the boxes is the holy bible and none shall deviate."

"Our problems in the US are due to emergent social conditions arising from uncontrolled new technologies and mental illness"

(other countries avoid doing the stupidest thing possible despite being subject to the same forces)
