As our latest freeze is settling in around North Texas, I am enjoying my fireplace. I had not owned a place with a fireplace my whole adult life. I didn't know how much having a fireplace now would take me back to my childhood. Taking comfort in small things as we march into Fascism.

We're in our usual wintery ice storm bout here in N TX. My diva dog Amy Pond wasn't happy when I made her go out to do #2 on the patio. I could forget about actually walking her on leash. She pooped on the door mat, heaven forbid she step on the snow.

Amy Pond is feeling well enough to carry her dragon squeaky onto the sofa. She has a herniated disk but the meds are keeping her 14 year old body pain-free & mobile. She's back to acting like a happy pup. Just no more jumping or stairs allowed.
