I'm here for history, politics, journalism, literature, and snark. I treasure my family, my friends, my community; museums, gardens, concerts. Find me drinking coffee, sipping wine, knitting slowly, cooking beans, baking cookies, looking at birds. Niners!

San Ramon, CA showed up for Hands Off! Big crowds lining both sides of Bollinger Canyon Rd in front of City Hall. Lots of supportive honking from cars driving past. #handsoff

This book arrived in my mailbox on this rainy, scary evening: Rebecca Solnit's "Hope in the Dark." Diving right in because we could *really* use some hope now. Shout out to @bookshop-org.bsky.social for the delivery.

A few extra steps required to purchase and read ebooks in their app, but totally worth it to support local bookstores.

Currently reading "The Late Americans." I love Brandon Taylor's writing. "Real Life" is my favorite book of his.

Doerr does it again. I started this book years ago, and cannot believe I left it on read this long! Its storylines are deeply layered and beautifully braided together, connecting isolated people across time and place through storytelling, books, and libraries. What book connects with you the most?

Percival Everett won the National Book Award for fiction earlier this week, and JAMES deserves all of the stars and accolades. A retelling of Huckleberry Finn from Jim's perspective - hilarious, harrowing, heartbreaking, and horrifying as you wind through the pages.

Greetings from San Ramon, California! Today's sunrise was so pretty it earned first-post-on-bluesky status - an audible WOW when I opened the blinds.
