Sorry, couldn't resist it. 🤣

In some ways the bigger challenge remains with the cabinet being all scratched up and with a torn speaker grill cloth for good measure.

Earlier I added a reed switch to the Phono piano key lever arm and a couple of neodymium magnets, polarity to get the field lines nice and tight. Totally reversible, invisible from above and no holes drilled. Now I have a switched (ground) power supply for a Bluetooth board. Cable ties added later.

Of course all the theory in the world is useless unless the radio actually works. Quite a change fro a month ago when it was difficult to tell if it was actually receiving anything at all. 🥰

The Ferguson 383A “Fleur-de-Lis” restoration is drawing to a close. A lot (!) of components needed replacing and the combined volume/tone control pot and on/off switch had to be completely rebuilt but she’s quite a strong performer now. 🥰

I’m left wishing that Ekco had spent an extra few bob on the A320’s speaker(s) - it sounds great through the shop B&W speaker. No short wave, no magic eye and a rather basic tone control as well. A shame but it speaks to the British mindset of the time I think. 😢 #VintageRadio
