Had a lovely time at Moonlit Sanctuary, seeing sleepy koalas and dingoes, and getting to feed very happy and awake kangaroos and wallabies! Plus a lot of different other Australian animals and birds! #australia

And then afterwards I took a train and bus out to the Heide Museum of Modern Art, which could be argued to be the birthplace of modernism in Australia. Lovely pieces by e.g. Sydney Nolan who has, er, kind of a history with the place, and a temporary exhibition on Italian furniture design. #australia

This morning I went to the National Gallery of Victoria international collection. The temporary exhibition (a Japanese artist) was fully booked so I couldn't visit, but the permanent collection, including some Rembrandt, Picasso, and Dali, was very lovely. #australia

Just had a lovely afternoon at Melbourne Shakespeare Companys outdoor performance of Romeo & Juliet! Very fresh and accessible version while still keeping the magic of the original text! (Also thank you Big W for having that foldable picnic chair on sale for $12!) #australia

This morning I went to the State Library of Victoria. Very nice building, and fun to see Ned Kellys famous armour! #australia

Did the Australian building of the National Gallery of Victoria this morning. Excellent galleries of Australian and aboriginal art, and a fun temporary exhibition on cats (boooh!) and dogs (all good boys!) in art. #australia

Am now in Melbourne after another rather 20th century train ride yesterday... The evening before that I had the pleasure in Canberra of seeing my first live Kangaroos! #australia

Also today, biked (thankfully on an electric bike) up to the Mount Ainslie lookout to get a good view of the carefully planned city of Canberra!

Hey @spaincivilwartours.bsky.social , I just visited in Canberra what I think is Australias only major memorial to volunteers of the international brigades! I've seen some conflicting info online, some say 70 australian volunteers, some say 69 and one fascist. Do you know what's the correct number?

And, staying with my friend from Sweden here in Canberra, I of course did not miss out on celebrating the most important Swedish holiday, Fat Tuesday!

Yesterday I went to the National Museum of Australia, which actually had a very good exhibition on the geography and biomes of Australia, in addition to a section on the aboriginal peoples and a temporary exhibit on Pompei. Had a lovely walk along Lake Burley Griffin to get there. #australia

After a slow (seriously Australia, get your train system into the current millenium...) train ride I am now in Canberra, staying with my friends who live here so will be a slower pace. Took an easy start today with Canberra Museum and Gallery. Interesting place for local history and art. #australia

One of the best museum experiences in Sydney so far, Susannah place. Guided tour through working class housing in the Rocks area, with a lot of great insights! #australia

And not to forget, had a lovely meat pie with peas and mash at Harry de Wheels! #australia #sydney

I also did a short tour of the Hyde Park Barracks, which tells the story of the founding convict population of Sydney and also later immigration. Quite ingenious system with location-sensitive devices that gave a personal audio tour. #australia

Yesterday I went to the NSW Art Gallery. Great permanent exhibition, especially the 20th century art. Got especially charmed by the works of Grace Cossington Smith (image). In building 2 there was a fantastic exhibition of modern aboriginal art, and a great temporary one by Chinese artist Cao Fei.

Afternoon at the Australian Museum. The temporary Machu Pichu exhibition was a little underwhelming but I enjoyed the permanent natural history galleries! #australia

Hey guys, love the podcast but tried to listen to it today walking through Sydney and it was drowned out by every minor car sound even though my headphones were cranked up. Maybe check the level it is recorded at? #louderplz

Visited the Museum of Sydney, quite a reasonably sized museum about the establishment of Sydney by the first fleet, and the often tragic consequences for the local aboriginal peoples from the contact with the colony. #australia

Starting off my second morning in Sydney with some delicious dessert-for-breakfast. Matcha souffle pancake at Edition Roasters. 😋 #australia

Spent the afternoon at the Australian National Maritime Museum. It was nice, showing off all aspects of marine life and ventures, with several boats, including a late 60s submarine, to visit. It was a tiny bit exhausting to take everything in though. #australia

Now on a visit to Museum of Contemporary Art Australia. Lots of interesting works, really liked the Julie Rrap exhibition, here an action-drawing around her own body, was displayed besides go-pro footage of the work being created. #australia

Also in Sydney, a monument commemorating refugees to Australia from the Irish 19th century famine. And a stones throw from there, one of the main culprits of said famine/genocide... #australia
