#UWJ201 #308 After watching "The Wheel pitch from Mad Men" I thought the idea around nostalgia was very interesting. In my own life, and the life of the man in the clip, nostalgia is very powerful. I wonder how the media can/is using nostalgia as a persuasive technique?

#UWJ201 #308 After reading "six effective PR stratageies for multi-level makreting companies" I found the use of influential supporters to be interesting and useful for my Short Writing Three! I wonder how many ads use this form of advertisment/persuasion?

#UWJ201 #308 After reading the ariticle, "Revealed: the Facebook loophole that lets world leaders deceive and harass their citizens" Facebook was arguing that they have been making efforts to avoid misinformation, however, upon the removal of Meta fact-checking havn't they worsened their claim?

#UWJ201 #308 After reading "Why is the media so polarized -- and how it polarizes us" I found that despite information being more accessible than ever surveys show Americans aren’t any more well informed politically. I wonder how media consumers can bridge the gap in polarization in news?

#UWJ201 #308 Subjective wellbeing (SWB) is one concept that I found interesting in the article "What Is The Good Life & How To Attain It". This is a concept that is relevent in my own life. Having an inner setpoint of well being is something I want to remember when I'm going through a hard time.

#UWJ201 #308 Looking at the statistics in the pew research study, "Public knowledge and experiences with data-driven ads" it states 6-in-10 Americans say the data reflects their personal preferences. I wonder if that number will go up if ads continue to become more personalized in the future?

#UWJ201 #308 After reading, "What is mean world syndrome?" I have noticed I myself and most people have devlopoed mean world syndrome. I'm curious if journalists and others who interact with the news more often feel the effects of mean world syndrome more or less?

#UWJ201 #308 I finsihed reading the article, "Beyond the Hashtags" and wonder if any of the most prominent movements seen in the past years, such as BLM, would be possible without mass communication?

#UWJ201 #308 I found the article "Attention as a Valuable Resource" to be fascinating. The term, attention economy is interesting and I have seen this being used on both Instagram and TikTok to keep people "doom scrolling."

#UWJ201 #308 After reading, "‘Horse race’ reporting of elections can harm voters, candidates, news outlets." One question I have is, in what ways are journalists, news outlets, and voters all working together to combat 'horse race' journalism, if at all?

I just finished reading "The Truth in User Privacy And Targeted Ads." I was curious how often I've been tricked into buying something from an ad. I wonder in the future what next steps companies will take to make ads even more personalized. #UWJ201 #308
