If you have wondered why trans people (and many others) were so upset by the supreme court ruling earlier this year, this article from Sarah Brown explains it well: www.libdemvoice.org/why-are-uk-t...
Why are UK trans people upset?
I want to explain a few things and then it might be clearer why UK trans people are upset. In 2001 I married my wife, Sylvia. In 2005 I started medical transition. For the state to recognise this I ha...

I may have to accept I will never visit any of the popular places at Open House London as yet again the booking website just kept crashing and by the time I got to a functioning page everything was already booked. So frustrating when it's one of my favourite events of the year

For all the benefits of public ownership of the railways, there have also been successful aspects to privatisation and one of those was the massive improvement to c2c services, which has now become one of the first to be renationalised

Last night I passed 4 Jack the Ripper walking tours on the way to my hotel in Spitalfields. Tonight I passed 9. So even though they're increasingly criticised for glorifying violence against women they're still doing good business

Brilliant video from Oslo Pride showing why even the most subtle signs demonstrating that you are OK with LGBT+ people being themselves makes a big difference. The first comment after the video explains it in English
For noen kan et lite regnbueflagg bety at vi føler oss tryggere. Man ser flagget og tenker; « her kan jeg passe inn»
En enkel måte å vite at jeg også blir satt pris på.

Veldig fin video

Shkodra Elektronike might sound like it was a communist era chain of hi-fi shops, but I absolutely love that song. Hoping #Albania does really well in #Eurovision

Nice visit today to the newly displayed portrait room at @sheffieldmuseums.bsky.social Graves Gallery. Lovely to see some Anders Zorn on display, which is a rare thing in the UK but he's one of Sweden's top artists and I never knew Sheffield had any in it's art collection

I'm all in favour of people registering to vote but it seems odd that @electoralcommission.org.uk is spending money on billboards promoting voter registration by 11 April in places that don't have elections this year

Next few #Eurovision2025 . Slovenia is earnest but dull. Finland and Malta I hate but I think will get to the final. Finland especially is powerful but not my thing at all but I won't be surprised if it's a contender

Listened to my first 5 songs for #Eurovision2025 - Albania, Belgium, Luxembourg, Montenergo and Spain. The only stand out is Luxembourg #LUX. Love the link to Eurovision history and quite catchy. I've yet to find a winner though

Things I like to do when I have lots of time off work: visit museums & galleries, go to the library, go to bookshops, visit places by train.

Things that are shut when I have lots of time off between Christmas & New Year: local museums & galleries, libraries, second hand bookshops, railway lines.

There's quite a few songs in this #Eurovision2024 semi final that I'm a bit meh about, but the ten songs I hope qualify are - Cyprus, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Iceland, Slovenia, Moldova, Australia and Luxembourg (listed in running order)

Finally, after a few months of registering I got my invite code. I've loved Twitter (mostly) but it's not what it was. Let's see if this is a good alternative
