Smoke was gentle on the tea. This is exactly how Smoky Soul smells like! Like a superb quality smoked Lapsang Souchong from Tong Mu! If you are expecting that really deep smoke in the average smoked Lapsang, you will be disappointed. I, for one, am not. I just wish I still had some of that tea!

Now, what does the perfume smell like? Well, like another accident! Few years back a tea came to @mei_leaf by accident and instead of the usual unsmoked Lapsang Souchong from Tong Mu, they received a smoked one. But what a beauty! It was smoked over longan wood which gave it a fruity touch.

I had a pretty tough work day and this incident didn’t help but then I thought of an upside of it. That leather sleeve and spongy part in the box will scent my flat for weeks! Some accidents happen for a reason.

New fully wrapped bottle arrived from Olfactive Studio and oh dear…most of liquid had leaked and soaked the leather sleeve and that black spongy bit in the box that holds the bottle during transport. Of course I wrote to the brand and Céline replied that she would ship me a replacement.

Hi Darius. I didn’t know you were in Milan, I would have loved saying hi. I, for one, went to Esxence with a clear plan to meet fragrance lovers and creators and hand out chocolates I made. I also stopped at smaller more artisan brands. Shame I missed you, maybe next time!

- late summer, sunny and warm
- family outing
- mushroom harvest
- mixed forest (spruce, oak, beech, shrubs)
- forest floor, fallen rotting leaves overgrown by forest plants
- moss, mushrooms, odd berry picked and eaten
- forest animals hiding from children’s laughter

La Cueillette is a labour of love. The idea came a while back but we truly started working on it with Marie in April last year and I received it in January this year. Marie's brief was photo of me, my sister and my dad back from 1978. One happy moment of many from my childhood.
