To this day I don’t know why the opposition didn’t make it their main ask at the end. They probably could have won if they’d focused on that ask & it would have blocked almost everything that’s been built.

I started thinking about this one a bit differently when I heard about lawyers and salesfolks taking care to close deals and bill particular clients on days when they worked from home in Bethany or wherever.

Personally I take at face value that her problem is with the easily avoided local tax rather than with the program itself.

But I agree that it's hard to imagine her ego among egos in the US senate. She's so used to being the alpha.

On the downside, at least politically, at first blush this'd seem to be a transfer from poorer areas (little housing growth regardless of zoning etc) to richer ones (more housing growth even despite zoning etc). But it'd disproportionately benefit poor folks in those richer areas.

Yeah I agree with Barbara's take. That said:
- This has the feds do two things they do really well (data & transfers)
- When fighting nimby cities we should be looking for ways to move the food, not just to regulate the cats
- I know the lead author Aaron a bit & seem to often agree with him
