Retired bureaucrat, of the street level kind. Perhaps thoughtful.... #Northumbrian #NorthEastScot

Rough Collies, family, braes if not bens. Reading and learning. Not getting in the hillwalking I should be doing, nor the gardening 🫣
Just watching a Guardian news video with the sound off and the automated subtitles on. It's amusing that Keir Starmer translates as either Karma or Stalin.

"The rattle of a Thompson gun".

Now where did I hear that? Which type of song?

"We're off to Dublin in the green." A well known Irish rebel song.

I suppose the Toraidh party have gone back to their roots. At least Thatcher is irrelevant to them now.

No we don't. We're on the cusp of losing our democracy. The only priority is keeping Farage out of Downing Street. We can sort out Labour as well.

Not long ago I finished volume 1, Volker Ulrich. The latest Hitler biography. Key theme was the role of the conservative parties in putting him in. This is just the same. BBC, most MSM. I see you.

"It was that teachable moment, encountering the pure disdain for Labour in one of Britain’s most deprived neighbourhoods..." Hartlepool doesn't contain such neighbourhoods, only some of Britain's most alienated. Still clueless.

To be clear, there are no longer any "English Episcopal" churches. I see the SEC as having a distinctive character of its own, but with some of the usual Anglican variety. Being neither established nor endowed makes for different relationships to the CofE. Spoiler alert - I'm NOT an authority!

"Merged" might be to put it too precisely. One "English Episcopal Church" near me only came into the fold in the 20th century. Some others cohabit (sic) rather uncomfortably...

That's complicated by the amalgamation of the Hartlepools in 1967, that of the Ancient Borough and the County Borough of (British) WEST Hartlepool.

In CofE, vicar means standing in for a vicar who's absent. Bishop of Rome is vicar for someone who's never absent.
