It sure did for Edmond de Rothschild who financed large parts of the land purchases in Palestine.
Just to cover some of the basics, for those who haven't seen such things.
Also, even Jewish authors' use of "Palestine" would later be changed into "Eretz Israel".

I keep saying that those who know the history of #Palestine would have MORE reason to work towards peaceful and equitable coexistence, not less.

The Holocaust survivors and the emergence of Israel (1998) Zertal is a professor of history who has worked in Israel and in Basel, Switzerland, among many other places. Quote, of which the second paragraph is highlighted: "The focus of the book is a small Zionist group that organized the clandestine immigration, Ha'mossad Le'aliya Bet, known as the Mossad, during 1945-48. The declared goal of the Mossad from its inception on the eve of World War II was to bring Jews to Palestine covertly, circumventing the restrictions on Jewish immigration imposed by the British Mandate authorities. From 1946, however, the British navy had effectively prevented Mossad ships carrying Jewish refugees from reaching the shores of Palestine. Beginning in August of that year, the passengers on those ships were sent to British detention camps in Cyprus. As we are watching horrendous, armed conflicts around the world, wondering what to make of them and how to pick sides...
It's actually not that difficult.
My humble comment on the atrocities millions of people are suffering under these days, or, ever: The dividing line between good and evil does not run along the lines drawn by armed forces, but between the powerful commanders and the silent victims of their violence. If you're going to pick sides, pick that of humanitarian law. Of humanity as such.

Hier der Text, der im Screenshot sichtbar ist. Wer sich in der Gewalt einer gegnerischen Konfliktpartei befindet, hat jederzeit das Recht auf Achtung des Lebens und der körperlichen und geistigen Unversehrtheit. Die erste und zweite Genfer Konvention von 1949 verpflichten die kriegführenden Parteien, Verwundete, Kranke und Schiffbrüchige sowie medizinisches Personal, Ambulanzen und Spitäler besonders zu schützen. Sie müssen von der Konfliktpartei, in deren Händen sie sich befinden, geborgen und gepflegt werden. Die dritte Genfer Konvention enthält detaillierte Regeln über die Behandlung von Kriegsgefangenen. Die vierte Genfer Konvention schützt Zivilpersonen, die sich in Feindeshand – in eigenem oder in einem besetzten Gebiet – befinden. Das erste Zusatzprotokoll von 1977 ergänzt die Regeln der vier Genfer Konventionen für internationale bewaffnete Konflikte. Es enthält zudem gewisse Einschränkungen wie das Verbot von Angriffen auf Zivilpersonen und zivile Objekte sowie die Beschränkung der Mittel und Methoden der Kriegsführung. Das zweite Zusatzprotokoll von 1977 ergänzt den gemeinsamen Artikel 3 der Genfer Konventionen, der als einzige Bestimmung auch in nicht internationalen bewaffneten Konflikten anwendbar ist. Das dritte Zusatzprotokoll sieht die Einführung des roten Kristalls als zusätzliches Emblem vor. Dieser kann seit 2007 zusätzlich zu den bereits durch die Genfer Konventionen vorgesehenen Emblemen des roten Kreuzes und des roten Halbmonds zur Signalisierung von Personen und Objekten benutzt werden, die besonderen Schutz geniessen.

Full test of bith screenshots: #democracynow reports: The US on Wednesday vetoed a resolution at the UN Security Council calling for an "immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire" in Gaza. The resolution also demanded an immediate, unconditional release of all hostages, as well as the lifting of all restrictions on humanitarian aid entering Gaza. The final vote was 14 to 1. The other permanent members of the Security Council Russia, China, France and the U.K. all supported the ceasefire. This is the fifth ceasefire resolution vetoed by the U.S.

If you're a bloody psychopath, you'd do well to join the SAS or another of their special teams, bringing "democracy and peace" to wartorn regions. You'll get away with murder, and they'd even help you cook the reports, so it all looks fine.
Three short paragraphs from the beginning of the long article: "Giving their accounts publicly for the first time, the veterans described seeing members of the SAS murder unarmed people in their sleep and execute handcuffed detainees, including children. "They handcuffed a young boy and shot him," recalled one veteran who served with the SAS in Afghanistan. "He was clearly a child, not even close to fighting age." Killing of detainees "became routine", the veteran said. "They'd search someone, handcuff them, then shoot them", before cutting off the plastic handcuffs used to restrain people and "planting a pistol" by the body, he said."
