Somebody online said once that if dark souls and DS3 are about the fate of the world, then DS2 feels much more about life in between. Maybe it’s just because it’s the middle child? DS2 feels more mundane, a game you could live in more so than the others

Despite the (fair) criticism of how separate and disjointed the areas in DS2 are, I feel like it allows fromsoft to explore a variety of settings and paint a rich picture of the wider world. More than any souls game, I feel like I know what it would be like to live in Drangleic

this game rocks at making you feel the same thing your character would be feeling. The crushing despair of dying over and over, the triumph when you finally overcome adversity, or even the quiet calm of Majula.
